Boyarka Region

Boyarka Region
We began raising funds in April 2023 and applying for grants to supply the Boyarka and Cherkasy regions with books for all ages. With the help of our Ukrainian partners –Liudmila Diadyk (Director of the Cherkasy Regional Universal Scientific Library) and Marina Sokolova (Head of the City Library Branch for Children No. 1 of the Boyarka Public Library), we were able to disperse these books. Our work in the Boyarka region focused on four villages: Novosilky, Kniajichi, Perevitz, and Maliutianka.

Village libraries in Ukraine are the only social hubs in their communities, but they are in desperate need of books. They support local schools, elderly, internally displaced persons in addition to servicing their regular readers.
We are working to help 7 villages by raising $1000 per each village.
- Cherkasy region villages: Garbuzyn, Valyava, and Ivangorod
- Boyarka (district of Kiev region) villages: Novosilky, Kniajichi, Pereviz, and Maliutianka
Current Fundraiser Progress
We have been able to provide hundreds of books to nine different libraries throughout Boyarka. These children’s books of various themes include works by Ukrainian and foreign authors that are published in the Ukrainian language. A special shelf has been allocated for these books, with labels indicating the institutions that provided funding. The new books are highly popular among the library visitors!
The below table documents the total amount of donations and which libraries received books:
